500 Mhz cavity
Highfrequency resonators are used in particle accelerators for fundamental research as well as in the industry.
Those resonators (cavities) accelerate the charged particles (e.g. electrons, protons, ions) with their electromagnetic fields to a higher energy level (experiments) or equate losses of energy on the circulating orbits (synchtron radiation).
Acceleration grids for NBI
For the heating of plasma in fusion reactors different heating systems are used. The component that is introduced here is a piece of the neutralinjunctionheater which bombards the torusplasma and heats up the highenergetic, neutralized protons and deuterons.
Faraday shield (active cooling)
So called HF-Ionsources are being used for plasmageneration in the Max-Planck-Institure for plasmaphysics in Garching.
Those are three-walled containers with an integrated quartzshell, that are obvolved by a coil to create high-frequenzy.
Galvanized heating conductors
Electric heating conductors are used as heat tape for a lot of procedures. Most of the times there is the problem to link the heating conductor very close to the heated mainbody. Normally the heating conductor is pressed on the piece that has to be heated or – if possible – put into the grooves. This, however, is only a partial contact and has a bad heat transfer. An improvement can be reached through soldering. A disadvantage of this proces is that the manual soldering applyies the high-grade steel surface badly and the surface can also be damaged through partial overheating.
Heat exchanger tubes

Thermal elements
There are several possibilities to measure termperatures in everyday life such as quecksilver- and alcoholthermometers, liquid crystal foils or electronic devices with very specific temperaturesensors.
All those devices only work belov 400°C. But there’s always the problem to measure the temperature at a specific point. This is where thermal elements are used. Thermal elements are a combination of two different metals or alloys. A tension emerges at their point of contact which is preferably soldered or welded. This tension is called electromotive force, also called EMF.
